Teaching activities
Lectures and runs practical classes to 3rd and 4th
year students. Runs final year research projects. Lectures to MSc
Students of the Animal science Faculty. Subjects taught are principally
related to farm animal physiology of nutrition with special emphasis on
growth, lactation, mineral and ruminant (cattle, sheep and goats)
nutrition. Supervisor of Ph.D. students.
Research interests
Trace element supply to ruminant animals. Mineral bioavailability
studies. Dietary evaluation of different agro industrial by-products
(like cottonseed, olive tree leaves, citrus pulp etc). Nutritive value
determination of different feedstuffs fed to ruminant and monogastric
animals. Feedstuffs technology.
Energy and protein requirements of small ruminants kept on pasture.
Study of different feeding systems of ruminant animals in Greece.
Digestibility and degradability studies on sheep. Effect of different
diets to milk yield and milk quality. Effect of water restriction on
digestion and passage rate in sheep fed dry forages. Effect of plane of
nutrition on reproductive performance of sheep. Organic farming of
ruminants. Production systems of ruminants. Effect of different diets to
milk fatty acid profile of sheep and goats.
