Personal

Born in 1972 in Athens, Greece. I have studied Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (1990-1995). After graduation, I started working towards my Ph.D. thesis in Analytical Chemistry under the direction  of Professor C.A. Georgiou.

Work experience

  • Kris-Pan plastics, analyst 1997-1998.
  • Chrispa  pharmaceuticals, analyst - R&D specialist 1998-2000.
  • ETAT food research and technology, analytical laboratory supervisor, 2000-.

Main research projects

My research is mainly focused:
  • on the development of new analytical methods based on FT-Raman Spectroscopy. Pesticides and pharmaceutics are the applications of my work. My aim is to establish new methods that minimize sample pre-treatment. The FT-Raman methods developed are rapid in comparison to reference methods and can be used to replace spectrophotometric, IR and chromatographic methods that require extensive manual sample handling
  • on the study of fatty acid complexation with cyclodextrins. The interaction of â-cyclodextrin (â-CD) with palmitoleate, linolenate, caprinate and caprylate and the displacement of the phenolphthalein (PHP) probe from the â-CD cavity are the main aspects of my studies.
