Dear colleagues and friends,

The International Verticillium Steering Committee and the Local Organizing Committee of the 10th International Verticillium Symposium- Corfu Hellas 2009, are pleased to announce to the scientific community and the world Verticilliologists that the Symposium was organized and carried out very successfully.

Over 80 scientists from 14 countries attended the symposium. Ninety-one plenary, keynote, oral and poster presentations were given.

The participants really enjoyed staying in one of the most beautiful, picturesque islands of the Mediterranean Sea under an expeptionally wonderful automn wheather for the whole week. They were  also experienced the hospitality of the modern Greeks and enjoy various Greek food specialties, drinks and dancing. Local or mainland excursions were also the highlights of the symposium with visits to the ancient theater-oracle of Dodoni and to Meteora and a field visit to Kalambaka region with impressive Verticillium wilt symptoms on olive trees of various olive orchards.

Beyond attending the symposium several new accountancies and links were created, long-standing frienships were reinforsed and agreements for research collaboration were also established.

The local organizing committee is really proud of doing its outmost to make participation fruitful and memorable.

HOST COUNTRY FOR OF HOLDING THE 11TH INTERNATIONAL VERTICILLIUM SYMPOSIUM

The new International Verticillium Steering Committee  announces the decision of  the assembly of the participants that Germany will be the host  country for organizing the 11th International Verticillium Symposium.

Prof. Andreas Von Tiedemann would be responsible for  the local organizing committee and he will propose place and date of holding the 11th International Verticillium Symposium. The International Verticillium Steering Committee proposed as the year of holding the symposium 2012 to avoid coincidence with the 2013 Plant Pathology Congress (Beinjin).
