Automated Olive Oil Anisidine Value Determination by Flow Injection

  • 10%  w/v olive oil samples in propanol-2  are injected  in the 3 x 10-2 M p-anisidine in glacial acetic acid/propanol-2  stream.  The reagents are premixed in the FI system using a two line manifold. Samples are mixed with the reagent while flowing to the detector.
  • The absorbance at 350 nm is continuously monitored resulting in positive absorbance peaks .
  • The analysis rate achieved is 80 samples per hour. Results obtained compare well with those obtained by the official method (0.5-6.8% relative difference for the analysis of 28 olive oil samples). Click to see the advantages of the method.
