One of the advanced integrated tools included in Macqu Climate control is the Window Control Tool. This tool incorporates the most common techniques for window control bat it is possible with the use of virtual variables to apply more sophisticated techniques.

In the Window Control Tool of Macqu, one can specify four types of windows (Lee, Windword side widows and Top and Side windows) and the range of operation for each type (see following Figure).

A different range of operation for each type of window can be specified for rainy whether, frost whether condition and in case the thermal screen is extract (see following Figure).

The window control program monitors tree virtual variables defined by the user in order to specify the current condition of operation (see following Figure)

The program controls the position of each type of windows based on the wind speed, wind direction and the ventilation needs (SPT). This information is provided to the windows control tool by the corresponding virtual variables or directly by the sensors (see following Figure)

The ventilation needs are specified ether by a temperature control loop (eg a PID temperature control loop) or by some other decision-making tool involved in the climate control of the greenhouse.

The ventilation needs are apportioned to the top and side windows by the user defining the appropriate rations

and to the lee and windword windows based on a parameter Fv which depends on the wind speed and wind direction. The user using appropriate virtual variables can change the dependency of the parameter Fv from wind speed and wind direction.
