HORTIMED -line DSS (download On Line DSS)
General Description:
The application was developed for the on-line management of water and fertilizers in a hydroponics closed or open system. It was developed for managing salinity in low quality waters, when used in closed hydroponics systems, but has the ability to emulate all types of systems, if described (defined) well during the setup of the DSS program. The program uses adaptive models for the calculation-estimation of the evapotranspiration and the absorption of main nutritious elements from the crop. The application, based on the calculated evapotranspiration and the absorption of elements, estimates per second quantity of waters that is included in the system (mixing water tank, root zone, drainage) and the constitution (content in elements) in the various sub-systems. Simultaneously it calculates the inflows and outflows of water and nutritious elements in the system.
The application has the potential of functioning as standalone emulator of the defined hydroponics system, for educational purposes or monitoring, and for overseeing and “guiding” the management of water and nutrients in other control hydroponics systems. Its purpose is to help for better management of waters and fertilizers and accounts for both costs for the grower and cost for the environment in the direction of Integrated Production Management (IPM).
