Project > Macqu > Objectives

The objective is to reduce inputs, improve the product quality and minimise the impact of greenhouse production systems on the environment, through the advancement of our knowledge on plants' bioresponses and modern management and control techniques.

SPECIFIC  OBJECTIVES  ARE:

- Reduce the amount of water and nutrient chemicals used in greenhouse crop production, while ensuring adequate plant irrigation and environment conservation.

- Reduce the chemicals used to control fungal diseases by optimising the control of greenhouse humidity with energy efficient measures.

- Optimise energy consumption and energy resource utilization with grower attractive methods in the context of maintaining best grade product.

- Develop innovative sensors to monitor plant physiological responses, and early detection of diseases, for an accurate and timely control of production operations and plant protection.

- Knowledge of plant nutritional and environmental requirements and quantification of their relations to consumer quality of the produce to improve the quality and profitability of growing crops.

- Develop a modern hardware and software system to integrate the gained knowledge into the management and control of crop production and shorten the "time to field" of the above objectives and of future research results.
