Technology producer

Partner P1 (AUA) is the developer of the hardware and software solution during the previous MACQU research project. It has been involved in the development of greenhouse automation solutions since 1982 and is committed to the evolution and maintenance of the technology.

Manufacturing partner

Partner P2 (Energiaki S.A.) is the firm that will undertake the manufacturing of the hardware for the demo sites. It has been involved in hardware manufacturing (electronics and power systems) for the Hellenic Telecommunications Company (OTE), The National Electricity Utility Company (ΔΕΗ), and the defense sector. Energiaki’s interest in this project lies in the areas of a) industrialization of the designs of the technology producer and b) manufacturing the system and cooperation with retailers.

Technology transfer partners

Partners P3 (IMAG), P4 (UPM) and P6 (FAL) are involved due to their participation in the earlier MACQU research project and will be primarily involved with the technology transfer related tasks.

Greenhouse Industry National Partners

Partners P5 (SISTEMAS) and P7 (IBS) ensure the greenhouse industry involvement in the demo project.

SISTEMAS (SP) is an SME active in the design, manufacture and assembling of greenhouse solutions including, irrigation, nutrition supply, heating, refrigeration, and controls. It specializes in advanced technology greenhouses

IBS (GE) is a business consultant firm in the field of greenhouse engineering since 1993. It is involved in planning and preparation of greenhouse investments, as well as providing equipment and control systems for existing production sites.

Demonstration Sites

Site S1 (GEXE) is a leading ornamental flower producer and retailer in Greece, located close to the coordinator (P1). It has a staff of more than 30 people. Furthermore a company subsidiary is involved in retail sales of greenhouse equipment and supplies so there is interest in prospective promotion of the end product through its retail channel.

Site S2 located at IMAG was a premium partner of MACQU in an area densely populated in greenhouses. It is part of the DLO organization ??? and also one of the prolific institutes in greenhouse research

Demo site S3 (HJH) is dedicated to production of ornamental crops grown mainly in greenhouses. It is a medium size company (SME) belonging to two associations of growers. It has 14 employees operating a total greenhouse area of 12000 m². It is located near partners P4 (UPM) and P5 (SISTEMAS).

Site S4 (HUERCASA) is an enterprise located near Madrid and produces vegetables and also precooked products. It has 30 employees, and its production is focused on endives which needs a special production system (grown under darkness in industrial farms). It is an especially valuable demo site since it will represent expansion into an application domain different than greenhouse crops.

Site S5 (Floraque) is a grower cooperative since 1950. They specialize on greenhouse production of ornamentals as well as open field production.
