RESEARCH

 

Research involvement and interests are focused on the utilisation of renewable energy (RE) sources and related technologies with particular attention to the development and application of RE technologies to supply power in rural and remote areas. Also involved in research in the field of energy efficiency and agricultural engineering.

 

Between 1986 and 1996 has participated as main researcher in 7 international projects funded by the European Union and 7 national projects.

 

Since 1997 has been scientific co-ordinator of 21 projects, (13 international multi-partner projects funded by the European Union, 3 bilateral and 7 national projects).

 

The overall budget managed by himself for AUA (since 1997) has exceeded 3.550.000 EURO of which 75% were European Union funds and the rest 25% national funds, all from competitive projects. The overall budget of the multi partners’ projects he has been coordinating since 1997 has exceeded 15.000.000 EURO.

Project funded by the European Union: Development and application of a water pumping system for remote areas consisted of photovoltaic modules with inverters integrated onto the modules and a new type of an asynchronous pump motor.
