George N. Mavrogiannopoulos,
Emeritus Professor of Agricultural University of Athens, was born in Naxos on
July 27, 1946. He is married and has three children.
Was
a Professor in the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Studies Department of Natural
Resources and Agricultural Engineering of the Agricultural University of Athens.
He
taught the lessons of 'Greenhouses' and 'Hydroponic' installations.
He
studied at the Athens Agricultural University where he obtained his doctorate.
He had Postgraduate training at International Agricultural Center, Wageningen, Netherlands, in Greenhouses and at New Mexico
State University, USA, in plant nutrition and hydroponics.
He
has conducted many National and international Competitive Research Programs, as
a Research Fellow and Researcher. He has published two books and numerous
research papers on Greenhouse, Hydroponic and renewable Energy in scientific
journals: Agricultural and Forest Meteorology, Agricultural Mediteranea,
FAO Technical Series, Scientia Horticulturae,
Soilless Culture, Journal of Horticultural Science and Journal of Horticultural
Science. In Agricultural Engineering Research, Bioresourses
Technology and in national and international conference proceedings. He has
worked with many foreign Universities in Europe, America, Asia and Africa. He
has been an invited speaker at numerous international and Greek scientific
conferences. He has been a reviewer in international scientific journals. He is
a member of International and Greek Scientific Associations. He was a member of
the Senate of Agricultural University (1998-1999, 2002-2003). He was a member
of the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Rural Research
(2002-2004). He was the Scientific supervisor -
Director of the Postgraduate Program in Natural Resources and Agricultural
Engineering (2005-2007). He was the Director of the Agricultural Constructions
Laboratory of the Agricultural University of Athens (2002-2010).
