Constantinos A. Georgiou is a Professor at the Agricultural University of Athens, Greece. A native of  Athens, he received  his B.Sc. from the University of Athens in 1984, majoring in Chemistry. In 1990 he received his Ph.D. from the University of Athens, majoring in Analytical Chemistry under the direction of Prof. Michael  A. Koupparis. During 1991-1995 he was Biochemist in Chief at Agia Eleni Hospital in Athens. In the fall of 1995 he joined the Faculty of the Agricultural University of Athens as an Assistant Professor. In the winder of 2002 he become Associate Professor. He worked in the Greek Military Air Force Laboratory during 1985-1986 and was a research associate at the University of Patras, Greece during 1984-1985. During 1982 he was trained under the direction of  Prof. H.W. Nurnberg in Julich, Germany.

His research programs involve the development of new analytical methods for the quality assessment of olive oil, the determination of pesticides and drugs in formulations, and the study of  cyclodextrin and protein interactions with micromolecules. He is interested in the development of automated analytical methods using home-made flow injection analysers and Raman spectroscopy. He is also working in biosensor  development for food analysis and the development of high throughput methods for total antioxidant capacity determination. Support for these projects has come from the Greek General Secretariat of Research and Technology, the Agricultural University of Athens Research Fund, the Greek State Scholarships Foundation and the European Community. In the classroom, he teaches courses in Analytical Chemistry and General Chemistry. Beyond being an educator in the Agricultural University of Athens he is also a tutor in the Greek Open University. Since 1995 he has taught over 3000 undergraduate students in the classroom and the laboratory.

He is a member of the American Chemical Society, the American Association of Clinical Chemists, the Greek Chemical Society and the Greek Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Biochemistry Society.
