  • Teaching and research activities in the fields of Ecotoxicology and Environmental Management, with emphasis to the protection of natural, semi-natural and agricultural ecosystems.
  • Impact studies of atmospheric pollution (especially ozone) on crops and forests.
  • Applicability studies of soil-rehabilitation technologies and of their secondary effects.
  • Ecological Risk Assessment.
  • Participation to the following EU Research Programmes:
    • RESSAC (REhabilitation of Soils and Surfaces after a nuclear ACcident).
    • CHECIR (CHErnobyl Center for International Research) - ECP-4: Behavior and fate of radio-pollutants, and consequences of nuclear accidents).
    • “Transfert de la radioactivité à l’home dans la chaîne alimentaire: caractéristiques de l’Europe du sud”.

 1988 - 1991:

Scientific collaborator in the Institute of Radiological and Environmental Protection, Research Center for Energy, Environment and Technology (CIEMAT) of Madrid, Spain:

  • Activities related to the study of radionuclides behavior in the Environment, and their control after a nuclear accident.
  • Development of the methodology for the recovery of radiocontaminated areas (including forests).
  • Evaluation of the countermeasures which are applicable in case of accidental radiocontamination.
  • Investigation on the management of wastes generated following the application of countermeasures.
  • Coordination of the Post-Chernobyl Action No 6 of the European Commission (International Programme).

1985 - 1987:

Research fellow in the "Service d'Etudes et Recherches sur l'Environnement - Institut de Protection et de Sureté Nucléaires" of the Nuclear Centre (C.E.N.) of Fontenay-aux-Roses, France:

  • Study of the behavior of Tritiated Hydrogen (TH) in the system "soil-crops-atmosphere". Investigations:
    • On the dynamic of binding of TH by the vegetables as a function of different climatological and physiological parameters.
    • On the process of oxidation of tritiated hydrogen to tritiated water.
    • Modeling the biological processes which are responsible for the TH binding.

1982 - 1985:

Post-graduate fellow of the European Commission in the Department of Biology of the Nuclear Center (CEN/SCK) of Mol, Belgium:

  • Research on the cycling of radionuclides (tritium, technetium) in the aquatic environment.
  • Modeling their incorporation into the living matter and their transfer in the food-chain.
  • Study of toxicity of tritiated water.

1978 - 1982:

Research assistant in the University of Paris VII - "Laboratoire de Pharmacochimie Moléculaire et Laboratoire de Biologie Cellulaire Végétale", Paris, France:

  • Researches on the biological impact of different pollutants, using as experimental model the unicellular alga Acetabularia.
  • Development of the toxicology and the pharmacology of two new medicaments patented in Europe and in the United States.
