- Teaching and research activities in the fields of Ecotoxicology and Environmental Management, with emphasis to the protection of natural, semi-natural and agricultural ecosystems.
- Impact studies of atmospheric pollution (especially ozone) on crops and forests.
- Applicability studies of soil-rehabilitation technologies and of their secondary effects.
- Ecological Risk Assessment.
- Participation to the following EU Research Programmes:
- RESSAC (REhabilitation of Soils and Surfaces after a nuclear ACcident).
- CHECIR (CHErnobyl Center for International Research) - ECP-4: Behavior and fate of radio-pollutants, and consequences of nuclear accidents).
- “Transfert de la radioactivité à l’home dans la chaîne alimentaire: caractéristiques de l’Europe du sud”.
1988 - 1991:
Scientific collaborator in the Institute of Radiological and Environmental Protection, Research Center for Energy, Environment and Technology (CIEMAT) of Madrid, Spain:
- Activities related to the study of radionuclides behavior in the Environment, and their control after a nuclear accident.
- Development of the methodology for the recovery of radiocontaminated areas (including forests).
- Evaluation of the countermeasures which are applicable in case of accidental radiocontamination.
- Investigation on the management of wastes generated following the application of countermeasures.
- Coordination of the Post-Chernobyl Action No 6 of the European Commission (International Programme).
1985 - 1987:
Research fellow in the "Service d'Etudes et Recherches sur l'Environnement - Institut de Protection et de Sureté Nucléaires" of the Nuclear Centre (C.E.N.) of Fontenay-aux-Roses, France:
- Study of the behavior of Tritiated Hydrogen (TH) in the system "soil-crops-atmosphere". Investigations:
- On the dynamic of binding of TH by the vegetables as a function of different climatological and physiological parameters.
- On the process of oxidation of tritiated hydrogen to tritiated water.
- Modeling the biological processes which are responsible for the TH binding.
1982 - 1985:
Post-graduate fellow of the European Commission in the Department of Biology of the Nuclear Center (CEN/SCK) of Mol, Belgium:
- Research on the cycling of radionuclides (tritium, technetium) in the aquatic environment.
- Modeling their incorporation into the living matter and their transfer in the food-chain.
- Study of toxicity of tritiated water.
1978 - 1982:
Research assistant in the University of Paris VII - "Laboratoire de Pharmacochimie Moléculaire et Laboratoire de Biologie Cellulaire Végétale", Paris, France:
- Researches on the biological impact of different pollutants, using as experimental model the unicellular alga Acetabularia.
- Development of the toxicology and the pharmacology of two new medicaments patented in Europe and in the United States.

Intense activities in the EEB (starting from the year 2000 up to this present time) and the MIO-ECSDE (starting from 2006 ), including the protection of natural, semi natural and agricultural ecosystems (prevention and rehabilitation measures, legislative aspects, development of policies).
- Participation in the Advisory Group “Agriculture and Environment” of the European Commission (starting from the year 2001 up to this present time), with emphasis in the management of natural resources.
- Participation (1991-1996) to the International Research Programme CHECIR (CHErnobyl Centre for International Research) - ECP-4 “Behavior and fate of radio-pollutants, and consequences of nuclear accidents”:
- Cost benefit analysis of decontamination actions (including decontamination of forests).
- Self restoration of contaminated ecosystems (including forests).
- Participation (1989-1995) to the European Research Programme RESSAC (REhabilitation of Soils and Surfaces after a nuclear ACcident):
- Application of rehabilitation techniques in radiocontaminated ecosystems (including forests).
- Efficiency of the non lethal defoliation and ecotoxicological impact of the countermeasures used for the recovery of agricultural areas.
- Participation (1991-1993) to the French Research Programme “Transfert de la radioactivité à l’home dans la chaîne alimentaire: caractéristiques de l’Europe du sud” (CEA – Cadarache).
- Coordination (1988-1991) of the Post-Chernobyl Action Nr 6 of the European Commission: Improvement of practical countermeasures against nuclear contamination in the agricultural environment (Radiation Protection Programme).
- Participation (1985-1987) to the European Research Programme “Behavior of radionuclides in terrestrial environments: Radionuclides deposition on vegetation and soils” (CEA – Fontenay aux Roses, France).
