Tsiplakou Eleni

Dr. Eleni Tsiplakou is an Associate Professor at the Laboratory of Nutritional Physiology and Feeding in the Department of Animal Science in the Agricultural University of Athens, where she is teaching Ruminants Nutrition in undergraduate and postgraduate students. She received her BSc. Degree in Animal Sciences (2005), her MSc. (2006), and her Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition (2008) from the Agricultural University of Athens. She has conducted post-doctoral research at Reading University (2009) and at the Agricultural University of Athens (2010-2011) with Fellowship from the State Scholarship Foundation of Greece. Dr. Eleni Tsiplakou (2016-2019) was the Vice-President of the Nutrition Commission of the European Federation of Animal Production (EAAP) while from 2010 to 2016 was secretariat in the above Commission. In 2017, she received the Young Scientist Award from the EAAP. She has published so far, 58 research papers in peer-review journals, and 100 abstracts in national and international conferences. She has principal investigator in 4 research projects and participated in 23 research projects, 5 of which are funded by the EU. She has gain 2 Scholarships from the National Scholarship Foundation of Greece for Postgraduate studies and Postdoctoral Research, and 3 from EAAP. She was chairperson in 5 International and 2 National Conferences. She is Section Editor in the Italian Journal of Animal Science, and Editorial Board Member in the Journal of Dairy Research, SciTz Nutrition and Food Science, and Gavin Journal of Food and Nutritional Science. She is, also, an active reviewer in a number of scientific journals (Journal of Dairy Research, Small Ruminant Research, Livestock Science, Animal, Lipids, Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology, International Journal of Molecular Science, British Journal of Nutrition, etc). She has supervised 19 Bachelor, 3 MSc., and 3 Ph.D. theses and she has been member of the advisory board in 42 Bachelor, 5 MSc., and 3 Ph.D. theses. Moreover, she is external evaluator of research projects and Ph.D. thesis.

Flemetakis Emmanouil

Dr. Emmanouil Flemetakis is an Associate Professor and a member of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology in the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology in the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA). During and after his PhD thesis, he has worked as a visiting researcher in several research institutes including the Max Plank Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology (Golm, Germany), the John Innes Research Centre, Department of Metabolic Biology (Norwich, UK), the Samuel Noble Foundation, Plant Biology Division (Ardmore, Oklahoma, USA), etc. His research expertises include state of the art gene cloning (genomic and cDNA) applications, transcriptomic and metabolomic methods, protein-protein interaction methods, and plant and microbe genetic transformation technologies. Research infrastructure include PCR and real-time PCR equipment, DNA sequencing apparatus, biolistic particle delivery system, electroporation systems, centrifuges, lyophilizers, tissue-disintegrators, cold room, tissue culture facilities etc. During the past years, the group of Dr. E. Flemetakis has been working in characterization of plant, microbial and microalgae genomes and genes involved in main biochemical and physiological processes. He has also actively participated in more than 12 national and international research projects.  Dr. E. Flemetakis has published more than 50 research papers in refereed journals and more than 50 abstracts in national and international conferences. He is a member of the editorial board of the Plant Biology journal, and active reviewer in many high impact scientific journals (Plant Physiology, New Phytologist etc.).

Mavrommatis Alexandros

In 2014 he graduated with ΒSc in Agriculture Science and in 2019 he received his Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition from the Agricultural University of Athens. He conducted post-doctoral research in the project Microalgae for Microbiome: The effect of dietary supplementation with microalgae on goats’ microbiome using metagenomics and metabolomics approaches which was funded by the State Scholarships Foundation (I.K.Y.) (2019-2021) while he also participated in three competitive research projects funded by EU and Greece (2019-2022). He has lectured at the Veterinary School of the University of Thessaly and the Department of Agribusiness & Supply Chain Management (Agricultural University of Athens). Lastly, he has contacted research as visiting scholar in the Consorzio Agrario di Parma in cooperation with the Veterinary Department of the University of Parma (10-11/2022).

Skliros Dimitrios

Dr. Dimitrios Skliros is a post-doctoral researcher in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at the Department of Biotechnology of Agricultural University of Athens, Greece at the project YoGArt: Yogurt of Greece produced with a novel Algae Ration Technology co-funded by EU, ΕSPA 2014-2020 (February 2022-present). He started his post-doctoral work in the project “Biological control of fish pathogens in fish hatcheries with the use of bacteriophages” co-funded by European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (2019-2022). He received a post-doctoral scholarship funded by State Scholarships Foundation (2019-2021) for the project “PhageWAR: Wielding bacteria’s Acquired Resistance against lytic bacteriophages” in the Scientific Area of Medicine- Lifesciences-cellular biology-Microbiology.  He holds a Ph.D. degree from the department of Biotechnology of the Agricultural University of Athens, with thesis title: “Comparative genomics of marine bacteriophages”, which he defended in May 2018. His expertise includes microbial biotechnology, emphasizing in bacteria-bacteriophage interactions. Dr. Skliros has 23 peer-reviewed publications, 2publications under-review, and participation in over 30 conferences, as well as having reviewed more than 20 peer publications. In the past, he participated in both National and European research programs involving Biotechnology, microbes and viruses. He is a member of the International Society of Viruses of Microorganisms, FEMS National society of Microbiokosmos, Hellenic Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology as well as a member of the Reviewing Boards of the scientific journals Frontiers in Virology, Frontiers in Microbiology, Vaccines and Biologics.

Kalloniati Chrysanthi

Dr. Chrysanthi Kalloniati’s research expertises include state of the art gene cloning (genomic and cDNA) applications, transcriptomic and metabolomic methods, protein-protein interaction methods, and plant and microbe genetic transformation technologies. During the past years, she has been working in characterization of plant, microbial and microalgae genomes and genes involved in main biochemical and physiological processes, with an emphasis on the metabolic interactions during Symbiotic Nitrogen Fixation. She has contributed significantly to the understanding of the complex metabolic interactions during symbiotic nitrogen fixation. Noticeably her work has highlighted for the first time the contribution of the N-fixing nodules in the whole plant sulfur economy (Kalloniati et al., 2015). She has been a doctoral and postdoctoral research fellow of the National Foundation for Scholarship. Additionally, she was awarded the first prize in the Business Ideas Competition ‘Green Dreams’ organized in 2008 in Greece by ALBA Graduate Business School and the Hellenic Entrepreneurship Association for the submitted idea for the organic production of high-value products from Greek microalgae. She has actively supervised more than 15 diploma, master and PhD students. Dr. C. Kalloniati has published 19 research papers in refereed journals and 24 abstracts in national and international conferences. She is an active reviewer in scientific journals (Biomed central Microbiology, Biomolecules, Plants, Agronomy, etc).

Kyriakaki Panagiota

Panagiota Kyriakaki is currently a Ph.D. student (2021-present) in the Laboratory of Nutritional Physiology and Feeding at the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA). Her Ph.D. thesis is related to gene networks that regulate lipogenesis of fatty acids in adipose tissue as well as those involved in the regulation of immune and antioxidant system of small ruminants’ mammary gland, under the influence of PUFA dietary supplementation. P.Kyriakaki has obtained an Integrated master’s degree (grade 8,34 «Very Good») in Animal Science at the AUA and she has been awarded an excellence prize three times so far (AUA, Special Reserach Funds Account of AUA, and State Scholarships Foundation). Moreover, her MSc (grade 8,93 «Excellent») studies in Current Food Technology: Dairy Science were completed with a scholarship by Foundation «Panagiotis Triantafyllidis». Panagiota Kyriakaki has participated in the European Project LIFE FORAGE4CLIMATE – Forage systems for less GHG emissions and more soil carbon sink in continental and Mediterranean agricultural areas (2018) in the framework of her thesis, and as Ph.D. student in YoGArt Project: YOgurt of Greece produced with a novel Algae Ration Technology (EPAnEK 2014-2020). She has published as an author 1 and as a coauthor 3 research papers in peer-review journals, and 7 abstracts in national and international conferences.

Georgiadou Maria

Maria Georgiadou is a member of Special Technical Laboratory Staff (STLS) in the Laboratory of Nutritional Physiology and Feeding at the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA). In 1995 she completed her studies as a Medical and Biology Laboratory Assistant and in 1996 as a Biochemical and Microbiological Assistant in the Institute of Vocational Training (IVT) SBIE. She owns a BSc degree in Natural Sciences from the School of Science and Technology – Hellenic Open University (2010). From 2003 until now, she is a Laboratory Assistant, and she has participated in 8 EU funded research projects specializing on feed anallysis (Weende). Finally, she has 4 peer-reviewed publications.

Pavlos Satolias, President, New Hellenic Confederation of Agricultural Cooperatives

Mr. Pavlos Satolias was born in April 1971 in Skotani, Kalavryta, Achaia. Since 19 he has worked professionally with livestock farming, maintaining a modern and well-equipped livestock unit. In 2003 he is elected for the first time in the Board of Directors of the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Kalavryta and since 2007 until today he is Chairman of the Board of Directors in the current Dairy Cooperative of Kalavryta. The Cooperative of Kalavryta has created modern infrastructure to produce traditional PDO Feta dough with a turnover of over 25 million euros per year. Since the founding of NEW PASEGES in September 2016 he has been a member of the Board of Directors and since May 2017 he has been elected Chairman of the Board with a strong sense of responsibility for defending the values ​​of farmers who serve daily and selflessly the primary agricultural sector. He has taken an initiative to establish the National Interprofessional Organization of the Greek PDO Feta, and his personal bet is to continue the positive course of the Agricultural Dairy Cooperative of Kalavryta and to achieve a new model of operation of the cooperative movement in our country.
