Mobile Communication

Objectives: An interesting aspect of the RACE I project on mobile cellular systems is the evaluation of how the network will perform when subjected to heavy traffic. The delay and channel availability will be critical to user acceptance. This project involves the development of approximate analytical methods to determine system performance figures, thus allowing rapid comparison with specifications, and identification of bottle-necks. The work will be carried out in conjunction with institutions in several European countries.

Support: R1043/RACE I/EC.
Duration: 1987 - 1989.
Coordinator: Prof. J. Dunlop (Strathclyde University).
Partners: UK, France, Germany, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Sweden.
